WHO 25% OF OUR PROCEEDS ARE CURRENTLY GOING TO
Wheeler Mission was founded by William Wheeler in 1893. It has since become a fixture in central Indiana, expanding to multiple facilities in Indianapolis and Bloomington. Last year alone, we served more than 6,600 homeless and addicted men and women, with more than 368,000 meals served and more than 157,000 total nights’ lodging provided. Our facilities can house nearly 900 men, women, and children at one time.
While the programs and services have evolved to meet the needs of a changing society, the mission remains the same. As Mr. Wheeler put it, we strive “to be all the help we can, in all the ways we can, to all the people we can.”
WHEELER MISSION MINISTRY OVERVIEW
WHEELER MISSION SPOKEN WORD
In more than a century of service to the homeless, poor, and hungry of central Indiana, we have helped thousands with shelter, food, and other programs and services. These amenities contribute to a person gaining the strength, knowledge, and skill to become self-sufficient. It is important to meet the short-term need of a bed and a meal, but the longer-term root causes of homelessness are only going to be solved one person at a time by giving individualized care to each person. As such, our vision statement states: “To see every man, woman, and child we serve, equipped to be productive citizens who enjoy lasting success in Christ.”
Wheeler Mission includes nearly a dozen facilities, and its programs are conducted at multiple locations in Indianapolis and Bloomington.
